My new Love

July 18, 2011

"GoPlaySleep", my beautiful daughter named our craft of today.

I did not plan this one, but I love it!

It all started when I saw one of Ariana's doll sitting in the kitchen looking really sad :(

This is how it went...

Me: "Ariana, why is your doll so sad?"

Ariana: "Awww I know, she was watching TV with me and saw a baby all happy playing on a

playpen."

Me:"So....???"

Ariana:"Mommy! So she started to cry because she doesn't have one, she said she is tired of sitting

around on hard floor or table."

Me: "hum mm...Hey!Look at that! A box! We can make one!"

Ariana:"Yes we can!"

The PlayGoSleep is a car seat, playpen and can also be a bed (that's our  next project, blankets and

pillow).

The materials are so simple and easy.

First you go to your pantry and grab a box of Maruchan Ramen (I know you got some).

Now don't eat it all in  one day (my kids would, they love it, not me).

Take all out.

Using a hole punch make two holes for the handle. I used ribbon, but you and your little Princess can

 use whatever you like :)

And now all you need is some materials and imagination to decorate your GoPlaySleep.

This is Our GoPlaySleep...So sorry for the poor pictures...long story...

On one side Ariana did a beautiful coloring, I love it!

Inside is also learning time with big pictures of animals on 4 sides.

Go!Take anywhere you Go!

And if you are busy on the phone talking to your girlfriend about the book you are reading it's OK,

your baby will be very happy next to you because she is chilling on  her "GoPlaySleep" :)

That's it.

You can see this project and many more right at Skip to my Lou Blog

Make sure to follow her, it is a very good Blog.

I had so much fun making this with Ariana, I hope you all have a great crafty week!

Sempre tentei fazer pao, nunca deu certo :(
Mas essa receita deu certissimo :) Pra falar a verdade nunca havia ouvido falar de Fatias Hunguras.
Algumas amigas experimentaram e foi sucesso total!!!
Facam, e uma delicia!
Aqui no site TudoGostoso voce encontrara a receita.
La tambem tem uma receita maravilhosa de Risolis de Carne Moida. Ja fiz varias vezes.
Essas sao minhas Roscas (Fatias Hunguras, mas eu prefiro chamar de Rosca de Coco)

So pretty uh? With a Hot Cup of Coffee YUMMYYYYY HUMHUM!
I can translate this recipe if anyone would like to give a try. It is a coconut flakes, sweetened condensed milk kind of roll. Really delicious and easy to make.

Fatia Hunguras/ Rosca doce/ Sweet Bread

I can't do it all the time, but I'm trying to do more often.
If I am in a hurry or had a crazy day and got a headache while cooking... I can't cook with my kids.
Ariana wants me to teach her every step and Anthony just likes to touch hot pans.
But every time we do cook together we always have lots of fun and they eat really good.
I guess they feel so proud that they can cook that they eat it all :) Works for me :)
The other night we made Steak Ranch Soft Tacos.
We sauteed onions, garlic, sweet red-green-yellow peppers... add the steak... seasoning...

Heated up the tortilla (that was Anthony's favorite thing to do it) and this is how we build it:
-> Tortilla
-> Sour Cream
->Steak with peppers
-> Healthy salad mix (the one with spinach and all the healthy greens)
-> Last we add some ranch dressing so the kids and Daddy got nothing to complain about the good greens.
That's what we had for dinner that night :)
What do you like to make with your kids???

Do you cook with your kids?

This was our first time making potato stamps.
We had lots of fun.
Here is a video on you tube that shows how to make potato stamps.

Messy... But F-U-N!!!
Ariana stamp on her t-shirt...
And we made Anthony a pillow for the nights he goes crazy hehe...
"Go to sleep Anthony" pillow...
with cars of course :)

Another great craft to do with your kids.
Happy Crafty Summer :)

Making Potato Stamps

July 02, 2011

It's been a very wet week here in South Florida.
Rain,rain,rain... Oh I can't take it anymore!!!
I love the beach and the pool and to take walks at the park, but this weather makes me so sad.
I really need sunshine all the time.
We are getting more rain now than we have in months. But guess what? We still more rain to  lift us out of drought status.
That's why read is so good.
I read about that and now I don't feel so sad about the rain.
Actually I got some ways to save water and would like to share with you guys.
We all know we should always try to save water but sometimes is good to have a reminder right?
I will post some  and at the end I'll let you know where to go to get the info on how we can save more water :)

14. Avoid purchasing recreational water toys that require a constant stream of water.

15. Consider using a commercial car wash that recycles water. If you wash your own car, park on the grass and use a hose with an automatic shut-off nozzle.

16. Avoid installing ornamental water features (such as fountains) unless they use recycled water.

17. If you have a swimming pool, consider a new water-saving pool filter. A single back flushing with a traditional filter uses 180 to 250 gallons of water.
18. Never pour water down the drain when there may be another use for it. Use it to water your indoor plants or garden.

22. Check for toilet leaks by adding food coloring to the tank. If you have a leak, the color will appear in the bowl within 30 minutes. (Flush immediately to avoid stains.)

23. If the toilet handle frequently sticks in the flush position, letting water run constantly, replace or adjust it.

Now the next 3 you have to be really really in to "save water"... if you are a mom like me...don't you love to take long warm (and if you are really stressed hot burning water) showers?
IDK about a bucket in the shower with me... turn shower on and off...hum..I guess I can do that.
25. Take shorter showers. Replace your showerhead with an ultra-low-flow version.

26. Place a bucket in the shower to catch excess water to water plants.

27. In the shower, turn water on to get wet; turn off to lather up; then turn the water back on to rinse off. Repeat when washing your hair.
36. Don’t let water run while brushing your teeth, washing your face or shaving.
This one is for my son Anthony who looves to play with the toilet!
39. Avoid flushing the toilet unnecessarily.

Rain Rain please hurry give us more water and Sun please come back soon, I miss you <3

Talking about sunny days and outside, here is something I always do with the kids and they love it.
We paint at the park :)
I take them to the park with a big sheet, a basket full of paint, brushes and paper, some snacks and drinks.
Next time you go to the park, try it, your kids are going to have a blast and you'll have a new free and original art master piece for your  house :)

Rain, Rain, Go Away or Not? I miss you Mr. Sun!

Summer of LOVE!

June 11, 2011

This was one of the things I made yesterday :)

Let's make one...

You will need:

Fabric or a t-shirt (I used a kids t-shirt)

Hot glue gun

Beads or anything cute that you want to use to decorate

Thread

Lace ( I used a light pink lace)

First you need to make the Rolled Flower

Here is a good Tutorial

Here are the 3 flowers... you can use as many or as big as you want.

I made two flowers with lace: I cut one strip of the t-shirt and one of lace and rolled them together.

Glue the flower on a piece of felt and cut around the flowers to make look clean.

As you can see in this picture next I cut 2 long strips of the t-shirt.

Twist them and make knots at the end... you can use 3 strips or just one and make knots all over.

If you have any questions please let me know, I will be happy to help you.

Now you sew the strips on the flowers.

You can make this necklace using ribbon, or necklace chain.

I dropped my camera in a pool last weekend.

So sorry for the poor pictures I am using my old old camera. But I'm getting a new camera soon, I had

 insurance on it thank God!

Have a great weekend!
